More than 90,000 patients aged 12 years or older have been prescribed DUPIXENT to treat moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD) in the U.S.A and Europe as of December 20192

Getting to know the DUPIXENT pre-filled pen

  • The 300 mg solution pre-filled pen is green
  • The 200 mg solution pre-filled pen is yellow

Before DUPIXENT adminstration

Ensure you have the following:

  • The DUPIXENT pre-filled pen
  • 1 alcohol wipe
  • 1 cotton ball or gauze
  • A puncture-resistant container
  • 1

    Check the label
    Confirm you have the correct product and dose

  • 2

    Check expiration date

  • 3

    Check the medicine
    Look at the medicine through the viewing window and check to see if the liquid is a clear and colourless

1. Choose an injection site

After removal from the refrigerator, lay the pen on a flat surface and let it naturally warm up at room temperature (less than 25°C).

Wait 30 mins for the 200 mg pen OR wait 45 mins for the 300 mg pen.

Recommended injection sites are:

  • Thighs
  • Stomach
    Except the 5 cm around the belly button (navel).
  • Upper arms
    These areas are only for injections administered by a HCP or a caregiver.
  • Choose a different injection site for each DUPIXENT injection
  • Do not inject through clothes
  • Do not inject into skin that is tender, damaged, bruised or scarred

2. Prepare the injection site

Wash your hands

Prepare the site by:

  • Cleaning the injection site with an alcohol wipe
  • Letting the skin dry before injection
  • Do not touch the injection site again or blow on it before the injection

3. Pull the cap off

When you are ready, pull the cap straight off.

  • Do not twist the cap off
  • Do not remove the cap until you are ready to inject
  • Do not put the cap back on the pre-filled pen after you have removed it

4. Place the needle cover on the skin

Place the needle cover on the skin, remember to:

  • Hold the pen so that you can see the window
  • Place on the skin at approximately a 90° angle
  • Do not press or touch the needle cover with your fingers, the needle is inside

5. Press down

Press the pre-filled pen firmly against the skin until you cannot see the needle cover, and hold:

  • There will be a “click” when the injection starts
  • The viewing window will start to turn yellow
  • The injection can take up to 20 seconds

6. Hold firmly

Keep holding the pre-filled pen firmly against the skin:

  • You may hear a second click
  • Check that the entire viewing window has turned to yellow
  • Slowly count to 5
  • If the viewing window does not turn completely yellow, remove the pen
  • Do not give a second dose, until you have investigated further

7. Removal and disposal

After the injection is fully administered:

  • Remove the pre-filled pen from the skin
  • Dispose of the pre-filled pen, (needle inside), and cap in a puncture resistant container right away after use

If you see any blood at the injection site, lightly dab a cotton ball or gauze pad.

  • Do not rub the skin after injection
  • Do not put the cap back on
  • Advise patients not to throw away in household waste

It’s important to remember:

  • Do not use the pre-filled pen if the expiration date has passed
  • Do not keep DUPIXENT at room temperature for more than 14 days
  • Do not use the pre-filled pen if the liquid is discoloured or cloudy, or if it contains visible flakes or particles
  • Do not use the pre-filled pen if the viewing window is yellow
  • Do not warm the pre-filled pen in a microwave, hot water, or direct sunlight
  • Do not use the pre-filled pen if it has been damaged
  • Do not use the pre-filled pen if the green cap is missing or not securely attached
  • Do not press or touch the needle cover with your fingers
  • Do not re-use the pre-filled pen

How to store DUPIXENT1

  • Keep the pre-filled pen(s) or syringe(s) and all medicines out of the reach of children1
  • Keep unused pre-filled pens or syringes in the original carton and store in the refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C1
  • Store pre-filled pens or syringes in the original carton to protect it from light1
  • Do not keep pre-filled pens or syringes at room temperature (<25oC) for more than 14 days1
  • Do not shake the pre-filled pen or syringe at any time1
  • Do not heat the pre-filled pen or syringe1
  • Do not freeze the pre-filled pen or syringe1
  • Do not place the pre-filled pen or syringe into direct sunlight1
